Rick "the Big Spender" Perry's rental home costs Texas taxpayers between $10K and $20K per month, while his security costs $400K and $600K PER MONTH!!!

Very interesting for a guy who chides Washington officials for their outrageous pork expenditures and misleading taxpayers.  Perry also says he wants a part time Congress at half the current salaries.

“Pork barrel spending, where senators, they scratch one another’s backs, is not federalism,” he said. “That’s about fleecing the American public.”  --- Rick Perry

2012 U.S. Politics:
The Republican Party Will Try to Keep Out the Young Liberal Vote.... of course!

pstern

09:10 on 27 December 2011

Is the GOP anti-youth?  You betcha!

Young first time voters will have a heck of a time getting their Voter Registration Cards, if the GOP has anything to say about it.   Many young voters are drawn to candidate Ron Paul because of his often anti-establishment proposals, plans and platform.  The Republican Party can't let that happen, so it will do anything it can to prevent liberal youth from voting.

Rick Perry keeps on saying that he's done great miracles for Texas employers and workers, so why do companies out-of-state do so much water development business in Texas???

pstern

16:11 on 26 December 2011
It's a simple answer, really.  Rick "King of the Liars" Perry is lying again.  What a surprise!

JUST A QUICK QUESTION: Why Exactly Are Texas Taxpayers Footing the Tab for the Security Detail of GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Perry?

pstern

19:27 on 25 December 2011

Aren't Texans already paying too much for one of the most lackluster governors ever in the state of Texas?

Texans are being forced to pay $10,000 per month for Perry's lakefront home rental because several years ago there was a mysterious fire at the Governor's Mansion.  Let him live in an apartment like most Texans do.
Perry thinks D.C. lawmakers are being paid too much, so why doesn't he live in a cheaper doublewide and save the taxpayers some money?

So, what's the real dope on construction of the XL pipeline and why does Rick Perry want it so badly?

Is the pipeline a plus for all of us or is it just another scam?

Okay, we know that Texas Governor and GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Perry foams at the mouth when he speaks about the XL pipeline and he is demanding that President Barack Obama approve the project ASAP.

RIP-OFF:   U.S. Congressional Pensions; Perry's Pension Double-Dipping; Health Benefits and Retirement Pensions for 'Part-time' Texas Legislators

Yi-Ha!  Y'all!!!

I have been writing for the past 11 years, trying to inform the public and getting some of these ridiculous benefits, pensions and procedures changed. Obviously, a lot of people who could do something about these issues are not interested in changing them.

Rick Perry has mush for brains...

peter stern

21:54 on 20 December 2011
Honestly, the Perry dude can't remember squat.

The Houston Chronicle outlines a story whereby in Iowa Perry was discussing his flat tax plan and gave out the wrong information. Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, who for some inexplicable reason supports Perry's campaign for President, had to correct Perry.
Rick Perry is running for president as the man with a plan: A plan to lower your taxes, cut government spending and create new jobs.

But Perry proved once again today that he’s not so sure what’s in his plan.
As Fox News reported on its politics blog, Perry needed a little help from a friend — the wonky Louisiana governor, Bobby Jindal — when the Texan misstated a key provision of his optional flat-tax plan.

U.S. Congress QUIETLY Passes Horse Slaughter for Human Consumption Bill... Horses head for the hills!!!

Say "Nay!" to Horse Slaughtering... Part II

What’s new at the dinner table: “Pass the horse, please.”

by Peter Stern

The U.S. Congress just QUIETLY approved the sale of horsemeat for human consumption, thus opening the doors for the increased slaughter of horses to sell horse meat here and abroad.

There are big bucks in the selling of horse flesh and big money also drove Congress to approve the measure, finally even after years of anti-slaughter lobbyists and horse protection sentiment prevented various similar bills during the past decade from being approved.

What can you say about Rick Perry?

What can you say about Rick Perry?

I'm sorry, but I'll say it... Perry is a down-home boy who is out of his element at the national level.

As a person, he has no polish and little substance. He has made it to Governor of Texas via his drive and luck. He gets relected because there has been no one in the Texas political field worth any merit, so people vote for the Devil they know, rather than for a Bill White, 'Kinky' Friedman, 'Grandma' Strayhorn, 'Pastrami' Katz, --- do I need to continue with this lackluster list?

Austin American-Statesman ABSURDLY tells voters to approve ALL 10 Proposed Constitutional Amendments

The Statesman Editorial Staff shows how out-of-touch it is with its approval of ALL the Propositions on the Texas November ballot and which highlights that the newspaper obviously does NOT work in the best interests of the community.

How is it possible that the Statesman determined to tell voters that the bond issues for Travis County are good for the people? Property values have increased in most of Travis County year after year and consequently property taxes continue to escalate to where they are now already unaffordable. Any bond issue will again increase property taxes. There are several bond issues proposed in several of the propositions.

Citigroup to Pay Millions to Close Fraud Complaint

Citigroup is one of those financial groups that GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain says is NOT responsible for the financial chaos that crushed the savings of many Americans. Cain points his finger at the Federal Government, but in truth, there is enough blame to throw around at the Feds AND at the financial sector. Both had a hand in creating the worst U.S. economy quite possibly since the Great Depression, when the bottom fell out of Wall Street in 1929 and which led to many lean years and massive unemployment for Americans.

Texas Constitutional amendment election Nov. 8, 2011

Texas Constitutional amendment election Nov. 8, 2011

Texas voters will be asked to approve 10 proposed amendments to the state constitution.   Don't forget to bring your voter registration care AND a photo ID with you or else you will NOT be permitted to vote.  The new photo ID law was passed in the last legislative session.

Here's a brief overview of the proposals (some of this was taken from the sites of the Texas Secretary of State and the Austin American-Statesman)  When appropriate I give my opinion on a proposed amendment:

3-faced Rick Perry Blast Feds for Same Thing He Does

Perry is like Cerebus, the 3-headed Dog, who lashes out without any reason or clarity and no one should trust such a creature. And certainly, the American voters should push Perry far away as possible from being a candidate for the Presidency.

Terror in Uganda? Or Imperialist Conquest?

What is *The Lord's Resistance Army* and Why Send Troops Into Uganda?

Are President Obama and Congress correct to send a small group of U.S. Special Forces into Uganda and perhaps parts of the Sudan where an army of approximately 350 soldiers perpetrate often inhumane treatment onto individuals, families and children that include rapes, beatings, torture and other violent actions? The army calls itself, "The Lord's Resistance Army" and it is a well-developed band of trained mercenaries. However, what do we really know about the group?

Well, it took a while, but Rick Perry is a man with an economic job plan.

GOP NIGHTMARE CONTINUES: There may be ‘mucho’ Skeletons in Chris Christie’s Closet

The Search Goes On...

by Peter Stern

Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie has stated many times that he does NOT want to run for President --- perhaps with good reason. As a former aggressive fund raiser and attorney,   Christie may have a lot of skeletons in his closet.   Why on earth would Christie want the publicity and scrutiny that would go along with his GOP candidacy?

The American Academy of Pediatrics must also lie because there have not been sufficient studies that prove Gardasil saves significant lives and that it warrants the use of the medication for ALL young 12-year old girls.   In fact, many young girls have reactions to Gardasil and could activate cervical cancer in some.

This revelation should be quite shocking to anyone who has been following the debate over Gardasil and mandatory vaccinations of teenage girls. First, it reveals that Gardasil appears to increase disease by 44.6 percent in certain people -- namely, those who were already carriers of the same HPV strains used in the vaccine.

Rick Perry Became Millionaire WHILE Texas Governor

Rick Perry Became Millionaire WHILE Texas Governor

by Peter Stern

Perhaps it is worth mentioning that Rick Perry became a millionaire DURING the time he has been Governor of Texas.

Shouldn’t that raise eyebrows? Shouldn’t the Ethics Committee care about that? Shouldn’t legislators stop protecting Perry? Shouldn’t Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott stop covering up Perry’s questionable expenditures and actions? Perry has flim-flammed Texans long enough and now he wants to do the same thing to the American people, running for President. Perry cannot be trusted on any level.

Texas Governor Rick Perry’s Drive to Maintain a Mythological Perception

All Eyes are Watching Indiana’s New School Voucher Program

Using Tax Dollars for Public Education and Private Schools

by Peter Stern

Last May (2011) Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, a Republican, signed-off on a state-wide voucher program bill and the result may be viewed as chaotic. Thousands of parents are pulling their kids from public schools and are placing them in private schools, of which many are Christian-based institutions that were previously sparsely populated.

Much of the chaos may be due to improper planning for the transition. The result is that the huge Exodus of children is taking a large chunk of tax dollars from public education and transferring them to the private schools. Neither public or private schools appear to be handling the transition smoothly.

Throwing More Tax Dollars at Public Education

The Board Members of the Dripping Springs Independent School District (DSISD) is trying to raise the tax rate to bring more money into its public education program. Accurate or not, the Board may believe costs have been cut sufficiently and that now it needs to bring in more tax dollars to operate district schools.

Texas Public Schools Use Court System for Misbehaving Students

But, Is it the best method to discipline young children?

by Peter Stern

The Washington Post has an article, “In Texas schools, a criminal response to misbehavior” in which it notes that throughout the U.S. many public schools are using the court system to punish and discipline students who misbehave instead of having them visit the Principal’s Office or meet with Guidance Counselors for disciplinary actions:

Courts and jail time should be a last resort for children, after everything else has been tried.

A Follow up on Texas Politics and Public Education

Texans May Be Too Defensive About Their Public Schools and Public Image

by Peter Stern

The fact is that Texas is near last on the list of providing a quality public school education and near last re: providing the tax dollars to operate the system. But realistically, just throwing more money into public education does NOT automatically improve it.

One woman, Donna, blogged in response to my last commentary on Public Education, that kids can do well in public schools... that it is in the hands of the children and their parents. Children can do well in public school and she referred to her own children as an example. Part of the comment is correct, but it is also inaccurate. Here is my response to her and to other Texans who can’t see the reality of what is going on here.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is a Legend in His Own Mind

Bending and Hiding the Truth is a Perry Art Form

by Peter Stern

Question:  What do you call an incumbent Governor who wins with a mere 39 percent of the total votes?

Answer:  Texas Governor Rick Perry.

So, why would Perry even consider a run for the presidency in 2012?  The man is delusional.  In his own words, he thinks he is “a prophet” doing God’s work.  Perry has won an unprecedented 4th term as governor because the other Republican and Democratic candidates scare-off Texas voters even worse than Perry does.

Public Education: How To Improve It and Cut The Cost

by Peter Stern

The Fight Against a Mediocre Public Education is NOT working. We all know it.

Waving Goodbye to Public Education

Texas Legislature doing what it does best.... removing tax dollars from public education

by Peter Stern

Slightly more than 10 years ago the state provided up to 70 percent of the total budget for public education. Local government, mostly via home property taxes, provided the remaining 30 percent. Currently, those percentages are reversed and now the State is looking to provide even less to public schools in the Special Legislative Session under proposed Senate Bill 1 that seeks to cut public education financing down another 6 percent.

Texas GOP Bulldogs Rip Into Travis County

Is there any logical reason to divide Travis into 5 districts?

by Peter Stern

Sure there is, if the GOP wants more power. Apparently it’s not enough that the GOP already has the majority in the Texas House and Senate. Currently Representative Lloyd Doggett is THE [Democrat]Congressman in the Travis district, but the GOP doesn’t like that and wants to horn in and take chunks of it away from Doggett. Travis voters must think a lot of Doggett because they continue to vote for him every time he is up for reelection. The GOP doesn’t like a Democrat being THAT popular.

Governor Rick Perry and Texas legislators cannot do the jobs voters hired them to do. STOP SPECIAL INTEREST TOLL ROAD PRIVATIZATION: TxDOT Needs Better Oversight

Legislators Made Promises They Did NOT Keep

by Peter Stern

During the past decade the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has cried poverty, that it does NOT have the tax dollars needed to build and maintain our highways. During the years, Governor Rick Perry gave TxDOT the green light to do whatever necessary to use “creative” sources of financing. Apparently the term “creative” means 50 to 70 year private contracts to build and maintain Texas TOLL roadways. In addition, TxDOT seems to have plenty of money to lobby Washington D.C. and to promote the advertising for building toll roads. In addition, TxDOT has been known for poor quality work performed by its contractors that needed to be redone, e.g., the resurfacing of FM 1826 in Hays and Travis counties, sometimes doubling the tax dollars needed for road maintenance and repairs.

What happened to “...of the people, by the people, for the people...” ?

The real problem with government at all levels is the massive amounts of money spent every year by special interests and/or lobbyists to get the people's representatives to do their bidding --- for their own purposes. The community good is generally thrown-out the window.

by Peter Stern

The sonogram bill forces any woman who wants an abortion to first view a sonogram of themselves.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Government has overstepped its bounds in many areas and has no right to interfere into our personal rights and liberties ensured by the U.S. Constitution as put forth by our founding fathers.

The Federal Government wants U.S. citizens to foot the tab to educate children of illegal immigrants

That's right.  You read it correctly.

Maybe homeowners should band together and stop paying school taxes until government plays fair.

The Higher Education Governor Rides Again

Does Rick Perry have any brains under that dazzling head of hair?

by Peter Stern

How can so many Texans continue to be fooled by The Emperor’s New Clothes? Approximately 5 years ago, Texas Governor Rick Perry placed his 10-gallon Stetson on his famous head of hair, polished his snake skin cowboy boots and galloped around the state pushing for the deregulation of tuition at higher education institutions. Special interests and uninformed Texans gave Perry what he and his appointed UT Regents wanted, carte blanche on increasing tuition costs. Since the approval by voters, UT raised its tuition costs 5 times, making a higher education out of the financial reach of many Texas students. Other colleges and universities soon followed the trail of tears blazed by UT.

NEW WORLD ORDER: The Era of Kings and Slaves

History Runs Its 360-Degree Course

by Peter Stern

Many look upon our U.S. Congress and wonder just how stupid it can get, but the powers behind Congress and the President know what they want. Who are the powers and what do they want? Good question. Here are the answers...

House Bill 2675 Toll Agenda Sneaks Back Into Legislative Session

It's a good thing a few of us are watching the toll road issue...

by Peter Stern

We were told the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) plan (the “wet dream” of Gov. Rick Perry and his predecessor George W. Bush) went the way of the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Wooly Mammoth. However, here we go again and legislators are looking not only at the TTC again, but also are proposing significant toll roads throughout Texas.

Conservative vs. Liberals = Outdated Terminology and Political Platforms

The Party we need is called Grounded-Centralists, a.k.a., those who recognized that the 2-party system has destroyed our once great nation. We all need to be centrally grounded. However, no party can deal with the powerful Corporate-Military Complex, which is the true elitist oligarchy that rules the status-quo and direction of our nation.

Ode to Obama: The Poor State of the U.S.

Americans need to stand-up and speak-out against the imbalanced status quo

by Peter Stern

As a nation we are stuck waist-deep in the muck of our own creation. The fact is that currently the U.S. is in worse shape than it was any time during the past decade. An elitist oligarchy is dictating our direction, which includes the destruction of the Middle Class.

The American Economy Still Hurting

Why is the U.S. economy still bleeding?

by Peter Stern

There is no real reason other than elitist corporate greed that prevents all Americans from benefitting via overall economic progress and profits.

Ever hear of the "trickle-down effect"? It's not happening.

Republicans Escalate War Against Middle Class and Poor

GOP Cuts: Programs for the Poor and Taxes of the Wealthy
by Peter Stern

Many still do not recognize the new Civil War taking place in the U.S. Instead of North vs. South, the battles focus on the Wealthy and the Poorer population.

Little Known News: A New Nation Emerges in Africa

Many people may not know that a new nation will be emerging in Africa

by Peter Stern

It will be the first time in the world that a new nation is formed since the U.S.S.R. was dismantled and 15 new nations gained their independence back in the 1990s.

re: Voter Machine Integrity and Voter Fraud

I wrote the following letter in response to contact from House Rep. Jason Isaac re: the passage of the absurd Voter ID bill.  It is absurd because it does virtually nothing to protect voters and/or to eliminate some conceived notion of ensuring the elimination of voter fraud.

American Economy and Political Climate Same Old Song & Dance

Except that It's Worse than in the Past

by Peter Stern

More Americans are out of work than ever before. There are more home foreclosures than ever in our economic history. There are fewer jobs available. Our population is growing daily and we have more illegal immigrants than we have ever had. There are more American dollars leaving our nation and flowing into foreign nations, which further hurts our economic well-being. Our long-term debt to other nations, e.g., China, continues to increase and our future direction is being manipulated and directed by the nations we owe and by our wealthy corporate oligarchy that have their own short-term profiteering as their catalyst.

A World in Chaos

I have to say that I am very concerned about the world. I don't think humans have a chance. In fact, I believe that "Humans are a doomed species." The only question I have is when will it finally happen?

This morning I read several online newspapers, looking at world news and I have to tell you that after an hour or so I had to stop. It is far too scary and depressing. There is so much going on abroad and here at home.

Texas sonogram bill shows its true color

by Peter Stern

Okay, so we now see how quickly state legislators can move idiotic bills like the anti-abortion bill through the House and Senate.

Krauthammer wants us to honor Bush's "Doctrine"

"acknowledging" the Bush Doctrine?   Really???

American Leaders Should Identify More With Libya and Muammar el-Qaddafi

There are important lessons to be learned

by Peter Stern

What is currently occurring in Libya is a culmination of a 40-year reign by leaders who do not live in the here and now realities of their citizens. For decades Colonel Qaddafi used Libya's oil wealth to entrench himself in riches and by building a nation in his own ill-conceived and self-involved perspective.

Anti-Abortion Bill in Texas on fast track for approval

This is not so much of a controversial topic as it is further government intrusion into our lives.

In addition, forcing every woman have a sonogram will add to the cost of our medical insurance and expenses WITHOUT doing anything really to protect anyone. Furthermore, prior to an abortion a sonogram is NOT needed because it does nothing to add further safety, nor would it motivate a woman not to have the abortion, as the embryo is just an embryo --- again, medically speaking. And lastly, how is the government going to ensure compliance of any such law? Get ready for unsafe black market abortions again, as there once were in the 1950's and 1960's, along with increased costs to every Texan who pays for health insurance. This is a stupid, STUPID bill that serves no genuine purpose but to ease the minds somehow of the anti-abortionist and religious right sector. What does the sector actually believe that forcing a sonogram will do prior to an abortion?

Texas Legislators Prepare to Pass Voter ID Bill

by Peter Stern

The Voter ID bill is a stupid, STUPID waste of time and energy.   Voter fraud is NOT a major problem as the GOP would like us to think.

Help Wanted: Good Leaders

Corrupted Government is Killing our Nation

by Peter Stern

It is true that we need better leaders in all areas in government and private industry, but where have all the good leaders gone?
