New Voucher Program Causes Chaos in Indiana Public Schools

Do you recall one of my previous articles asking if we are all viewing the end of public education???  (view it on this blog site)

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, a Republican, signed-off on a state-wide voucher program bill this past May and the result is chaos.  Thousands of parents are pulling their kids from public schools and are placing them in private schools, of which many are Christian-based institutions that previously were sparsely populated.

Revolution for Revolution's Sake...

Who Runs Things When the Revolution is Over?

or

“Been Down So Long Don’t Know Which Way is Up”

by Peter Stern

What do revolutions in Libya, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan and other areas around the world have in common?  No one knows what is going to happen once the revolution is over.

Most of the people finding themselves in the midst of fighting know they want “freedom” from generations of tyranny, but what happens when you finally attain that freedom. We all know that “cream rises to the top” but how does that work in governing once the powerful dictator is overthrown?

Public Education in Texas is in Jeopardy --- Again!

Throwing More Tax Dollars at Public Education

We May as Well Flush Money Down the Toilet

by Peter Stern

The Board Members of the Dripping Springs Independent School District (DSISD) is trying to raise the tax rate to bring more money into its public education program. It is doing what many other school districts are trying to do. Accurate or not, the Board may believe costs have been cut sufficiently and that now it needs to bring in more tax dollars to operate district schools.

Texas Public Schools Use Court System for Misbehaving Students

But, Is it the best method to discipline young children?

by Peter Stern

The Washington Post has an article, “In Texas schools, a criminal response to misbehavior” in which it notes that throughout the U.S. many public schools are using the court system to punish and discipline students who misbehave instead of having them visit the Principal’s Office or meet with Guidance Counselors for disciplinary actions:

Courts and jail time should be a last resort for children, after everything else has been tried.

The American People Must Demand that Congressional Members Work Together

Our Survival as a Nation Depends on It

by Peter Stern

Obama stated his determination to focus on and fix what is referred to as "Entitlement" programs, which include Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. He is not wrong in wanting to do so. These programs need to be revamped. More tax dollars are needed to continue the programs or they will be in jeopardy very soon. However, our leaders must be very careful in what they choose to do and how to do it.

Religion Continues to Capture and Dominate the Political News

Enough is Enough!

by Peter Stern

The news is filled with the religious overtones and affiliations of Texas Governor Rick Perry, GOP Primary Candidate Michelle Bachmann and others.  However, the news should NOT focus on the religious aspect of these people in their political run for office.  It is melodrama that should NOT be part of politics.

THE WORLD IS AN ANGRY PLACE: Political, Social and Economic Unrest Spreading Throughout the World

The U.S. is NOT Immune and Worse News May Be Coming Our Way

by Peter Stern

If the U.S. economy is falling apart there is no hope for the rest of the world.  In the United Kingdom there has been unrest, protesting and looting. The political climate in the Mid-East (Syria, Egypt, Yemen, etc.) is a hot-bed of violence.  It seems that chaos is spreading around the globe. Few places are immune to joblessness, hunger, oppression, anger and violence.

Congress and the President are hazardous to our health

“We don’t need no stinking Congress”

by Peter Stern

To say that the American people are angry at and disappointed with their Congress and President Obama is a huge understatement. If they headed a corporation instead of our nation they would already have been fired in a New York heartbeat.
