Ricky Perry, the Texas Governor, is in New York City telling New Yorkers to "Come on down" to Texas because it's such a great place to live and do business.
The majority of New Yorkers are too smart and aware to believe any of
Perry's hype. I think this trip is a "feeling out" for Perry in
considering another doomed run for the Presidency in 2016.
I
believe this week sometime Perry will publicly announce whether he will
run for re-election for Texas Governor or not. Attorney General Greg
Abbott is waiting in the wings... drooling over himself at the thought
Perry will say no, so Abbott has the best shot at becoming the next
Governor.
It could very well be the last time a Republican
will have such a free access to becoming Governor, as the majority in
Texas is rapidly becoming Hispanic and so the Democrats most likely will
get the change they are so hopeful for.
Republicans will
fight to the end to keep the red in Texas, but it is a futile battle
that they won't win in the next decade. They need to chalk it up and
recognize that they have had a great run and it's time to move over.
