Season of Discontent

by Peter Stern

What's that distant rumbling you hear?

It's the people's discontent.

It's growing louder every day.

The rumbling is against proposed toll roads and an inadequate public education system.

It's a crying-out for jobs.

It's about sending off children to war and not knowing if they'll return.

The rumbling is about sky-high property taxes.

And it's about the loss of jobs.

It's about high insurance costs and health care.

It's about American jobs being outsourced overseas.

But mostly it's about elected officials not doing the jobs they were hired to do and the higher costs of everyday living expenses.

The rumbling has started.  The eruption is not far off.
